Founded in 2002, Centre for Rural Development and Education (CERDE) focuses on improving the socio-economic conditions of poor and marginalized communities through inclusive, people-centred, and participatory development approaches. The organisation works in the areas of education, health, women empowerment, livelihood promotion, and rural development. CERDE believes in equality, dignity, and community ownership while implementing sustainable development programmes. The organisation actively collaborates with government departments, CSR partners, financial institutions, and local donors. Over the years, CERDE has positively impacted thousands of families through Self-Help Groups, skill training, and awareness programmes across rural and urban areas. Our interventions continue to strengthen community resilience and self-reliance in Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu.

Campaigns CERDE organised health awareness programmes focusing on family welfare, HIV/AIDS, cancer prevention, and sanitation. Community meetings and IEC materials were used to spread awareness. Women and youth actively participated in discussions and campaigns. The initiatives promoted preventive healthcare practices. Referrals were provided for medical support when required. Behavioural changes were observed at household levels. Activities covered rural and urban communities in Ramanathapuram.
Various skill training were conducted for women and youth, including tailoring, handicrafts, coir products, and beautician skills. Practical and entrepreneurship-oriented sessions were provided. Participants gained confidence to start income activities. Linkages with markets and support institutions were facilitated. Household income opportunities increased. Women achieved greater economic independence. Trainings were conducted in multiple blocks of the district.
